Why did you decide to participate in the ICLA Mentorship Program as a Mentor?
I have been supportive of this program since it's inception several years ago. I truly enjoy meeting new people in our industry and giving back and serving others.

What did you hope your mentee would accomplish because of being paired with you?
I wanted my mentee to feel comfortable with asking any questions, that they would view me as an always approachable resource, and that even after the mentorship year ends, that we will have an ongoing relationship that is valued.

What did you learn from the experience (either from your mentee and/or from your mentor partner)?
I covet every mentorship relationship that I have had the pleasure of participating in. It is always great to get to know others in our industry and the mentorship program is an excellent vehicle to help one another and build personal and professional relationships and networks.

What advice would you give someone new to the licensing industry?
Get involved! Join ICLA, volunteer for committees, build your network of peer professionals on all sides. Don't limit your view of our industry practices, recognize that there are unique differences that may work great one place but not as well in another. Remember that we ultimately serve the end consumer, so focus on what is good for the consumer as well as what is good for your brand.
