Dec. 15, 2016 CLEVELAND — The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) launched registration for its inaugural Spring Symposium presented by IMG College last week, and the response from the Association's members has been very positive.
The event for athletics directors only is scheduled to be held for the first time April 9-11, 2017, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Hosted by the United States Air Force Academy, the agenda features a curriculum taught by Academy professors, including three innovative breakout sessions on character development, leadership enrichment and sexual assault prevention programs. "We are extremely pleased at the early response to the Spring Symposium launch from ADs in all divisions across the country," said NACDA Executive Director Bob Vecchione. "This event is intended to provide our members with a unique professional development opportunity. The curriculum has been created to specially address issues athletics directors face on a daily basis with their staff, students and at home, taught by experts from one of our nation's foremost leadership incubators, the U.S. Air Force Academy."
NACDA also announced its plans to provide $1,000 professional development grants for up to 50 member ADs to help offset costs related to the Symposium.
Although the NACDA Spring Symposium presented by IMG College is for athletics directors only, ADs are strongly encouraged to bring their spouses/partners, as there will be special programming designed for them at the host property Broadmoor Resort. These guests will also be invited to attend special featured sessions along with athletics directors, such as the Keynote Session "You Have a Right to a Life! Finding Balance," led by Gene Smith, Wolfe Foundation Endowed Athletics Director at The Ohio State University, and his wife, Sheila.

NACDA sponsor United Airlines is also offering special airfare discounts to Colorado Springs (COS) from April 6-14 that attendees can take advantage of when making travel plans.
