National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics

NACDA Hires Jacob Gaines as Controller

CLEVELAND The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced that Jacob Gaines has been hired to the position of Controller.

Gaines will officially begin his duties on December 9, overseeing the day-to-day accounting and billing for NACDA and its 19 Affiliate Associations. He replaces Noreen Byrne, who is retiring from NACDA on December 31 after serving the Association for the last 12 years.

Gaines comes to the National Office after spending the last 10 years at D'Amore Tatman Group, LLC, a full-service accounting firm in Beachwood, Ohio. He began his tenure while still an undergraduate student in 2015 serving as a tax intern. Over the course of his tenure, Gaines worked his way up through the ranks at the organization, advancing to staff accountant, senior accountant, and most recently as manager. During this time, he gained experience in financial statement preparation and presentation, tax reporting and research, and managing a team to service clients representing a variety of industries.

"We are excited to welcome Jacob to the NACDA Family," said NACDA Chief Executive Officer, Pat Manak. "The depth of his experience and his proven work ethic and dedication at one firm over the last decade will allow him to make immediate positive contributions to our team as he manages the intricacies of the NACDA & Affiliates finances."

"I was interested in pursuing the Controller position at NACDA because I felt the opportunity aligned perfectly with my career aspirations," said Gaines. "I had always dreamed of applying my passion for accounting and finance with my love for athletics, and I was even more excited when I first walked into the National Office and felt the family-like atmosphere and sense of community at NACDA. I am looking forward to contributing to a team that genuinely cares about the success of one another."

A Northeast Ohio native, Gaines graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in finance, and again in 2017 with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 2018.
