CLEVELAND - The Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) has launched the 9th Annual MOAA Charles Whitcomb Award to recognize and celebrate the individuals/administrators that foster diversity and inclusion within the intercollegiate athletics community.
The recipient of this award will be announced and recognized at the MOAA Symposium.
The Association uses the following criteria for selection:
- Individuals/administrators whom have gone above and beyond to create a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment in which there is a caring and valuation for all individuals, identities and perspectives within the field of athletics.
- Individuals whom have demonstrated an outstanding effort or commitment to the recruitment, hiring and retention of a high-quality and diversified staff on a continued basis.
- Individuals/administrators who have taken specific identifiable measures to establish a stimulating, dialogic environment that engage all campus/organizational members and advance knowledge and understanding of issues and perspectives associated with diversity and inclusion (i.e., proactive, positive engagement around diversity).
- Individuals/administrators whom have established initiatives/programs that have become a vital component to improving the campus/organizational climate for underrepresented groups.
MOAA Charles Whitcomb Award Application - Deadline for nominations is Monday, March 3.
