DI-AAA ADA Opens Awards Nomination Process

CLEVELAND – The Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) has launched the nomination process for the 8th Annual Builders' Award and the 19th Annual Gary Cunningham Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Builders' Award is presented to an individual who, for a minimum of five (5) years as an active DI-AAA director of athletics, has contributed to the enhancement of the association, their institution(s), and the profession as a whole. Honorees must be current members in good standing of DI-AAA ADA. Members of the Builders' Award Committee are not eligible for the recognition.

The Gary Cunningham Lifetime Achievement Award is annually bestowed upon an individual who, for a minimum of 15 years as a director of athletics and 25 years in total, has contributed to intercollegiate athletics in such a manner as to bring honor to themselves, their institution(s), and the profession as a whole. Honorees must be either current members in good standing of DI-AAA ADA or have been in such regard prior to their retirement from the field or whenever they departed their most recent DI-AAA institution.

Members of the Lifetime Achievement Award Committee and current DI-AAA ADA Officers are not eligible for the honor.

REMINDER: Scholar Athlete Award Nominations are due Friday, March 15th!


Requirements:
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS PER INSTITUTION IS TWO (2) PER GENDER

The nominee must :
  • Have been a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials and at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games listed on the nomination form.
  • Have reached JUNIOR academic standing at the institution (ineligible athletics transfers are not eligible).
